Great characters and stories. Gives you hints on how to be a spy in every episode. One of the best shows on TV. Action and humor.
I bought this DVD set for my husband because he loves this show. He watched the entire season within a couple weeks and now has to have season 2.
The main character is resourceful, entertaining, and unpredictable and he is surrounded by an ex-girlfriend, a former FBI agent/friend, and a nagging mother that all add to the dimension and humor of the show. I think it's best described as a newer, improved version of the show MacGyver. My husband and I both really enjoy this show. We bought it for my dad for christmas and our whole family really enjoyed it (we're all mid-twenties and older). The main character is a former spy who is fired (or 'burned') and then reduced to helping those who have been wronged, scammed, or hurt in some other way in order to restore justice for them and earn a living for himself.
She knows just how to get what she wants from everyone around her, even the criminals who occassionally come to visit her.As far as I can tell, Sam's role is one of comic relief. It's so good to see Sharon Gless again, she's so perfect as Michael's mother. But he does have access to extremely useful information and also Miami's rich women who apparently fall for him by the dozen.Another favorite is Barry the money launderer, what a fun guy he is. He's the central character but I have to confess that my favorite character is Fiona. Peronally, I think Fiona could do much better for herself but he'd be lost without her.This series keeps getting better and I look forward to watching it for many years. And I absolutely loved the Cagney and Lacy reference in the second episode, that was great.
And also the arms dealer guy, Seymour, he's just hilarious.Michael does get very selfish and whiney sometimes but he's cute so he gets away with it. Michael is fun to watch and I love all the 'tricks of the trade' he shares with the viewers. *Finally* a female character that doesn't faint at the sight of blood or run away screaming when faced with danger. He's willing to do anything for a free meal and a drink.
Don't waste your time. Sadly, even the Great Ash can't save this hunk of junk, and it's clear he knows it; he's just there for the paycheck. The acting is horrible, and I'm a huge Bruce Campbell fan. It aspires to be Alias but only manages to be a one-man (plus one woman) A-Team/MacGyver ripoff, without the interesting characters, good times and classic charms of those shows. I cannot believe the number of four and five-star reviews for this show. It's everything wrong with television: formulaic scripts that lack anything even remotely resembling originality. Formula shows seem to dominate today's landscape (okay, maybe 'reality' is number one, but formula is right behind), but this one takes formula to a new low, with one episode completely indistinguishable from the next.
